School of Pharmacy (SOP)
The School of Pharmacy is one of the four Schools of The Catholic University of Health and Allied
Sciences. The original Master plan provided for the establishment of a Faculty of Pharmacy by
2004/2005. However, the faculty was established as a School of Pharmacy in 2009/2010; nearly
five years behind schedule. The School of Pharmacy launched a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy
Degree in the academic year 2010/2011. The goals of the programme are: To train highly qualified
pharmacists, in order to meet the requirements of pharmaceutical services in Tanzania.

In the Laboratory
To produce pharmacists suited to the needs of the country, but, also meet the general
standard of competence of pharmacists from other countries in the region. To stimulate
and nurture in students and graduates the desire to initiate research in local drug problems
and traditional medicinal plants as well as research into other fields of pharmaceutical and
medical interest.

In the Academic year 2010/2011 the School admitted 35 students and expects to enroll a similar
number of students in the academic year 2011/201
