In 2006/2007 an Institute of Allied Health Sciences was established within the Bugando University of Health and Allied Sciences. The Institute currently runs all the diploma programmes. The DPS, DDR and DMLS programmes are accredited with the Tanzania Commission of Universities. Graduates in those courses get awards of SAUT. The other programmes get awards of the Ministry of Health. In 2009/2010 the AMO, Nursing, and Anesthesia programmes were reverted to BMC.
